Any laboratory is a potentially hazardous place.  You can be permanently injured or even killed if you are careless!  Besides electrical safety you may use toxic and hazardous chemicals and you must be familiar with their hazards before you use them.

You must be aware of laboratory safety before entering the lab.

Material Safety Data Sheets for chemicals used in our laboratory have health, fire, and reactivity hazard data for a particular chemical.  You must familiarize yourself with any potential hazards before using a chemical.  You can look up MSDS information from the Vermont SIRI database.

Gas Bottle Safety is extremely important!  Gas cylinders have the potential to destroy the lab and kill many people.

Asbestos Warning:  The ceiling tiles above your head may contain asbestos.  Please do NOT remove or disturb these tiles for any reason.
